Outreach Program/Grants

The Catholic Healthcare Partners (CHP) Foundation awarded $1.71 million in grants during 2006 to programs that address the healthcare needs of persons who are poor and underserved. More than $1.3 million of those grants were awarded by the Mercy ElderReach Fund, the Community Initiatives Fund and the Mercy Reach Owensboro Fund.

Mercy ElderReach Fund
The Mercy ElderReach Fund provided grants to programs at CHP regions and/or facilities that help meet the needs of the elderly poor. A total of $127,825 was awarded during 2006 to 12 programs that enable the elderly poor to experience a better quality of life.

Community Initiatives Fund
The Community Initiatives Fund provided grants to projects that promote healthier communities. A total of $722,500 was awarded during 2006 to 20 projects.

Mercy Reach Owensboro Fund
Our Mercy Reach Owensboro Fund provided grants to programs in the Owensboro, Ky. area that consist of new research initiatives to determine community health needs within the Owensboro area or that address demonstrated healthcare needs. During 2006, a total of $462,703 was awarded to 11 programs.
