St. Rita’s Medical Center concluded phase one of its $130 million expansion with the opening of "The Medical Center of the Future" in 2007. It includes a new lobby, High Street Café, Outpatient Services, chapel and gift shop on the first floor; a new heart center on the second floor; new patient floors on the fourth, fifth and sixth floors and support services on the lower level; a rooftop garden; and a Health Resource Center. It also features easier access and additional parking, artwork to uplift the spirit, family-focused patient rooms and an environmentally friendly design.

    Awards and Recognition
    In 2006, St. Rita’s Medical Center was recognized for the second consecutive year for service excellence under the J.D. Power Distinguished Hospital Program and exceeded the national benchmark for overall patient satisfaction.

    In 2006, St. Rita’s Regional Cancer Center was named a recipient of a 2005 Outstanding Achievement Award from the American College of Surgeons’ Commission on Cancer. Only approximately nine percent of programs surveyed in 2005 received the award.

    St. Rita’s Medical Center received a 2007 Governor’s Healthy Ohioans Healthy Worksite Award for its commitment to associates’ health and was recognized at the gold level of achievement.

    St. Rita’s Medical Center received a 2007 Organ Donation Medal of Honor from the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services for achieving and sustaining an organ donation rate of 75% or more of eligible donors. This was the third consecutive year that St. Rita’s had received the award.
