Improving diversity and inclusion throughout CHP is directly tied to our health system’s 2009 – 2013 Strategic Direction, which includes the goal of attracting, developing and retaining a first-rate and diverse work force. To help in promoting greater diversity and inclusion throughout our health system, each of our regional health systems has its own diversity council, as does CHP's home office. The members of these Diversity Councils consist of a diverse cross section of regional associates who work together to raise awareness about the importance of diversity and inclusion and to plan and implement diversity- and inclusion-related activities and programs.
Thanks to the efforts of our regional diversity councils and other dedicated associates and departments, diversity-related activities are taking place all across our health system. From holding educational sessions and diversity fairs to building relationships with diverse community organizations and assessing the cultural competency of patient care, work is under way to make CHP a more diverse and inclusive organization.
A major component of CHP’s work to advance diversity and inclusion is our Supplier Diversity Initiative. Our focus is on ensuring sustainable growth in supplier diversity through continued inclusion, retention and development of diverse suppliers.
