Because physician leadership is crucial to the effectiveness of healthcare organizations, CHP is pleased to offer a comprehensive Physician Leadership Academy that is designed to hone physicians’ leadership skills. High potential physicians who are selected to take part in the annual program gain a valuable opportunity to further develop the specific abilities they will need to succeed in leadership roles.

 

Participants generally include elected members of the medical staffs at CHP facilities and ex-officio members of regional boards, as well as others who have demonstrated the potential to be especially effective as leaders. They meet at CHP’s home office in Cincinnati, Ohio for learning sessions that include presentations by national experts and physician executives, and attendees also take part in facilitated discussions.

 

In addition, several components of the academy focus on leadership tools and credentialing and are provided by the American College of Physician Executives. Academy participants also increase their capability to serve as leaders in our ongoing effort to improve the quality and safety of our care.

                                                  

CHP’s Physician Leadership Academy constitutes a unique learning opportunity tailored specifically for physicians. Graduates are well prepared not only to serve in medical staff leadership roles and on regional boards, but also to move into senior management roles within CHP regions.
